Meadow Glen Aviary is a small
aviary located in North Carolina which breed
Lady Gouldians and Society finches. At Meadow Glen Aviary I have become fascinated with
breeding Lady Gouldians finches. My experience with birds in the past has been mainly
with English
Budgies. I bred, showed and judged them for many years. Giving the Budgies up
to other interest several
years ago, I always had an interest in Lady Gouldians. I
finally decided to get a few pairs and
try my luck with them. Everyone had told me they were difficult breeders
and would not raise their
own. After several months of them just looking at one another they began
to lay and the rest
is history. I found many of the pairs did raise their own babies
with no problems and I realized
I was trying to breed them too young. We now have young from time to
time to share with
those interested in these fascinating little birds. Many from VA, WV, TN,
SC, GA as well as
NC have visited to view the birds as well as take one home t o
enjoy.
